Surrealist Bust/ In progress
Background of Surrealism
Surrealism is the rejection of what we see as normal. It directly translates to “beyond reality”. André Breton in Paris is seen to have begun the Surrealist movement and many people viewed his death as the end. The surrealist movement lined up with Sigmund Freud's ideas of the unconscious mind.
Guillaume Apollinaire first coined the term to describe the ballet performance, “Parade”
My project is a bust of a girl inspired by the endangerment of bees. Pieces of her face will be honeycomb and honey will drip from the mouth, eyes and honeycombs. Flowers will come up growing out of the neck. The hair will be slicked back looking almost like its wet with honey. Small bee will sporadically placed around the face.
